Portfolio > Punjabi Textile

"Mumbai" and "Kantha Meditation" were made using a fragment of a 19th century Indian embroidered panel. The Punjabi textile was old and well worn. I though all of the hands that went into the making of it, growing the cotton, spinning, weaving, dyeing, and working the meticulous embroidery. My own embroidery and appliqued shapes have been worked into the piece adding another layer of handwork to all that of the ancients.
