My father loved to fly. He flew bombing runs over Japan in WWII, taught Civil Air Patrol kids how to fly and, after acquiring his own plane, he flew for Angel Flight, going into remote areas to transport injured or ill patients to medical centers. He finally gave up the keys to his beloved plane when he was 88 years old. When he was 99 he managed to snag a brief but thrilling ride on a vintage B-24 Liberator. He passed away, his final flight, at the age of 101
